Cherokee Nation Awards Checks to Copan, Dewey Fire

Copan and Dewey Fire Department’s each receive a $3,500 check during the Volunteer Fire Department Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Cherokee Tribal Headquarters in Tahlequah.

Attending the program on Thursday evening was Copan Fire Chief Jerry Monday, Dewey Fire Deputy Chief Cody Meade, and Dewey Fire Lieutenant Kolten Brown.

Dewey Fire (DFD) will utilize monies from the check and the recent Stray Kat Car Show to purchase radios. In total, DFD will have approximately $9,500 at its disposal. Nearly $6,000 in admissions were received for DFD during the car show in Dewey on May 7.

In Copan, the fire department will use the funds to buy safety equipment.

Both of these fire departments extend their thanks to the Cherokee Nation for the checks.
