For the first time since Feb. 19, 2019, it was a Frontier Valley Conference sweep for BHS. Both the Bartlesville girls and guys upended Union on a special night at Bruin Field House.

On the girl’s side, again BHS had all five Lady Bruins go the full 32-minutes. Grace McPhail, Mikka Chambers, Alayah Lunn, Emma Zimmerman and Kenzie Denny beat Union 47-44.

Bartlesville nearly led wire-to-wire, as BHS had control of the game from the early going.

The victory was the first in conference play in three years for the Bartlesville girls.

Bartlesville led by as many as nine in the second half, but the Redhawks cut it down to one a couple times. However, Union did not lead at any point in the game’s final 14 minutes. David Castillo scored 20 points on 8-11 shooting. Aadi Ayyappan hit four threes for the second time this season - And the Bruins shot 59-percent as a team.

Perhaps the biggest storyline of them all, Bruin head coach Clent Stewart got his first win over his alma mater and his former head coach in Union and Rudy Garcia. Stewart after the win.
