Copan Hoops Already At It

High school basketball technically is already underway across northeast Oklahoma. Copan has played two games, the most of any team in the area.

The Hornets are under direction of a new head coach this season. Kolten Stacy, a former Oklahoma Union star was hired as Copan’s head man this offseason. Former Copan coach Kevin Foreman stepped aside for good after a year back at the helm.

The Hornet boys are a lot like the Copan football team. A large group of talented underclassmen will lead the way.

Stacy says he wants his guys to play defense.

Stacy had been an assistant coach, and was primed to work in the wings at his alma mater before he was hired to run the Copan program.

He talks about the first week weeks as Copan’s head coach and what he has learned.

Hornets are 1-1 thus far, with a win over Shidler and a three-point loss to Foyil earlier this week.

Copan is right back after it hosting South Coffeyville on Tuesday of next week for its next contest.
