Thanksgiving Weekend Football Playoffs

There are still a handful of high school football teams still kicking in the listening area, as we have the third week of the playoffs coming up on Friday night across the state – here are the ballgames closest to the area.

Hominy is in the Class A quarterfinals, as the Bucks will have to travel west for a neutral-side contest in the third round. Hominy faces Hooker at 7:00 PM at Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva. Hominy is a perfect 12-0 on the season, and it’s been a while since the Bucks were challenged.

Hominy won its first two playoff games a combined 108-14 against Allen and Quapaw. The last close game the Bucks played was on Oct. 21, in a 27-21 win over Tonkawa. The smallest margin of victory Hominy has had all year… was against Pawhuska, in a 27-22 Bucks win on Sept 9.

Hooker should present a challenge on Friday evening, as the Bulldogs are 9-3 in a tough District in northwest Oklahoma.

The only other reasonably close high school game features Owasso. The Rams pulled an upset in the second round of the 6A-I playoffs with a victory over Norman North a week ago. This week Owasso takes on Union in a semifinal game at Broken Arrow High School.

We will have the Rams on 100.1 – KYFM.

Elsewhere in 6A-II, Stillwater, the team that just bounced Bartlesville from the postseason, will take on Deer Creek in Ponca City on Friday night.

And in an afternoon contest on Friday, Bixby will face Jenks in the other semifinal in 6A-I at 1:00 this afternoon also at Broken Arrow.
