The Washington County Commissioners met briefly Tuesday morning to take care of three items of business.

Following the awarding of a bid for a new parking structure at the Washington County District 2 Road Department facility, the commissioners signed an annual memorandum of agreement between the county and the Cherokee Nation for road improvement projects.

Commissioner Mike Dunlap says the Cherokee Nation invests a significant amount of money for road improvements and bridges, and it is a partnership he is extremely grateful for.

The commissioners also submitted an application for a rural economic action plan to the Grand Gateway Economic Development Association for road work on West 1200 Road. The amount of the grant request is $45,238 that would pay for reworking the shoulders, reclamation of the 1200 Road east of Highway 75 and two layers of chip and seal.

The commissioners will meet again on Monday, Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
