Bartlesville Man Slams Woman; Charged with Domestic Abuse by Strangulation

A Bartlesville man was seen in Washington County Court on Wednesday on the charges of domestic abuse by strangulation and interference with emergency telephone call. Joshua Duncan was called by the victim to their home because the victim was locked out of their house. The victim told police that Duncan usually left a key outside of the house or the back door unlocked, but the house was completely locked.
Duncan showed up roughly 20-minutes later and let the victim inside of their house but was asked to remain outside. Duncan followed her into the house instead and according to an affidavit, an argument broke out when the victim told Duncan to take his things and leave. The victim said Duncan pushed her in the hallway before she closed herself into a bedroom which resulted in Duncan kicking the door down.
Duncan is also accused of breaking the victim’s phone when she attempted to call police. The victim said that Duncan allegedly told her that if she called the police that it would be the last thing she’d do. He next broke the victim’s phone before being asked to leave again. Duncan instead allegedly grabbed the victim by her throat and face and slammed her into the floor. Police spoke with a witness who made the 911 call for the victim and confirmed the victim’s story.
Officers were unable to locate Duncan when the alleged crime took place on Aug. 16, but he was eventually caught and arrested. Duncan was given a bond of $100,000 and his next court date is set for Sep. 22.
