OKC Man Facing Felony Charges in Washington County

A Chinese National who lives in Oklahoma City is facing two felony charges in Washington County District Court of obtaining property under false pretenses and conspiracy.
Sun Di Yi allegedly defrauded $40,000 from a Bartlesville victim using an online and phone scam. According to an affidavit, the victim said that his personal computer wasn't working and that there was an indicator to call, “Microsoft” with a phone number associated with that to remedy the problem. He called the number and spoke with a man who requested $40,000 because the account had been compromised.
After withdrawing the cash from his bank account, the victim was informed an “Arvest Fraud Investigator Officer” would arrive to pick up the cash, which he did two hours later. After the victim continued to receive phone calls requesting that he withdraw an additional $30,000, an officer met with the victim at Arvest Bank where Arvest Bank managers collaborated with the victim and police to make it appear a $30,000 transaction occurred before locking the victim’s account.
The officer and victim then “played along” with Sun and upon doing so was again able to set up a meeting with the so called “Arvest Fraud Investigator Officer. When the officer made contact with Sun at the victim’s residence, he was placed under arrest.
Sun is being held on a $500,000 bond and his next court date is Oct. 18. Prosecutors say Sun has multiple other charges across Oklahoma counties, including drug trafficking.
