Washington Co. Court Clerk Jean Davis on COMMUNITY CONNECTION

If you've ever been involved in anything of a legal nature in Washington County, you've likely vistited the Washington County Court Clerk's office. Even if you haven't, you've seen the office just as you walk into the courthouse.
 
Washington County Court Clerk Jean Davis was our guest on COMMUNITY CONNECTION. She explained that she had recently taken over the offce from Jill Spitzer who retired a few moths ago. Jean said, "If you've been married, divorced or otherwise had something involving a legal or court record, you've used our services."
 
Jean talked about how her office is continuing the work of her predecessor in restoring all the old records.
 
The Court Clerk has the primary responsibility to record, file, and maintain as permanent records the proceedings of the District Court. The Court Clerk also issues marriage licenses and private process server licenses.
 
Court proceedings are recorded in the appropriate journal or record. All the court proceedings are public information except those related to juvenile, guardianship, adoption, and mental health cases.
 
Monies from the court fund are identified for distribution by the Court Clerk to the appropriate units of County and State Government. Court Clerk's use forms and follow procedures prescribed by the Court Administrator's Office, the Oklahoma Supreme Court, and the State Auditor and Inspector.
