BHS Retaining Varsity Coaches at Great Rate

It is officially the offseason for high school athletic departments across Oklahoma. Bartlesville High will have several projects they are working on this summer. A new video scoreboard at Custer Stadium will headline facility upgrades.

BHS will also search for a new boy’s golf coach after Jeff Rude’s retirement following this past spring season. One thing Bartlesville has not had to do a lot of this year: Hire new coaches.

Most every varsity coach from last season is sticking around for next school year. This was evident on the football coaching staff, where head coach Harry Wright had a 100-percent retention rate of his varsity assistants. A big accomplishment for a team coming off its best season in seven years.

Bartlesville High Athletic and Activities Director Thad Dilbeck talks about how his department and the district goes about trying to keep talent locally.

We will have more news on Bruin Athletics during Bruin Buzz on Friday morning about 9:45 on KWON.
