Bruin Football Loses Another Heartbreaker

Bartlesville High fell in a heartbreaker for the second week in a row, as Sapulpa scored a late touchdown to beat the Bruins at Custer Stadium.
Sapulpa topped BHS, 44-36 to nap the Chieftains sixth straight win in the series.
Bartlesville rallied from 22 points down to tie the game in the fourth quarter thanks to a flurry of fantastic plays on both sides of the ball and a gutsy performance from quarterback Brett Eaves.
After a mis-played snap on a punt Bartlesville would punch it in on a run from PJ Wallace to get within two.
The ensuing two-point conversion was a quarterback keeper from Eaves to tie the contest.
However, Sapulpa would use a nearly six-minutes off the clock on its next drive and go 65 yards to score the eventual game-winning touchdown.
After entering the 2nd half down 36-20, Bartlesville scored its first touchdown after the break on a great fourth down pickup from Eaves to Austin Zink for his first score of the year.
Wallace would run for 133 yards and Eaves went 14-20 for 186 yards and three touchdowns, unofficially. His performance would net him the Patriot Auto Group Player of the Game honors.
Penalties were a major issue for BHS in a bad second quarter. Bartlesville had 170 yards with penalties, with more than half coming on personal fouls.
Bartlesville is 0-2 and next travels to Collinsville this coming Friday.
