Caney Valley Gets Northeast Valley Conference Foe in Regional Play

The Caney Valley Trojans fell at home this past Friday in the district title game against KIPP Tulsa, 72-62. The Trojans had the benefit of hosting their own district assignment due to a 14-8 regular season finish, although it would not be enough.

Caney Valley Head Coach Tug Brinker talks about the 2A District title game loss.

The Trojans now look to an elimination contest with a Northeast Valley Conference foe in Oklahoma Union on Tuesday. The Trojans and Cougars have met twice this year, with Caney Valley winning both contests 49-37, and 44-39 in overtime.

Brinker says it adds a little more comfortability in having to play a team at home that you’ve seen twice already this season.

Trojans and Cougars will do battle in an elimination 2A Regional contest Thursday at 2:30 pm in Ramona.
