Caney Valley (OK) Hosts Nowata in Playoff Opener

For the second season in a row, Nowata and Caney Valley (OK) will open the 2A playoffs against each other on Thursday night.
 
Thursday's meeting is the fourth between the two teams all season, with Nowata leading the season series on the guy's side, 3-1. Nowata beat the Trojans on Feb. 6, 66-52.
 
For Nowata, they enter the contest with a record of 11-11. The Ironmen played on Monday night at home and fell to Ketchum, 58-54. The Ironmen closed out the regular season losing four of their last five games.

On the other side, the Caney Valley Trojans enter the postseason with a record of 17-7. Since snapping a five-game win streak in their loss to Nowata, the Trojans have won two of their last three. After meeting Nowata on the road to open last year's playoff run, head boy's coach Tug Brinker talks about hosting playoff games.
 
In the playoffs last year, Nowata beat the Trojans, 49-37.
 
On the girl's side, the No. 17 ranked and 22-2 Caney Valley Lady Trojans will take on a Lady Ironmen bunch who enter the postseason at 7-14 overall. The Lady Trojans are 2-0 against Nowata this season.
 
The girl's game will get the postseason started at 6 p.m. from Holly Ward Gymnasium in Ramona. The boy's game will follow around 7:30 p.m. Full coverage of the boy's game can be heard on 104.9 - KRIG and an audio only livestream on KRIGTV.com.
