College Hoops Tips Off on Monday

In college basketball on Monday night – Oklahoma State was the only in-state NCAA D-I team wo win its season-opener.

Cowboys topped Texas-Arlington 77-66. OK-State lead by has many as 31 before UTA chipped away at the lead down the stretch. Former Booker T. Hornet Bryce Thompson led the Pokes with 18.

Meanwhile OU lost to Sam Houston State, 52-51. OU had a 14-point lead with 9:44 left, but only managed nine more points down the stretch. The Bearcats made 7 of their last 10 shots, including the game-winning three-pointer from Lamar Wilkerson with 4-seconds left.

Tulsa blew a 19-point lead on the road at Oregon State in Eric Konkel’s debut as Golden Hurricane head coach. The Beavers had a 14-0 run to begin the 2nd half that propelled them to a 73-70 win.

And Oral Roberts rallied from down 18 at halftime at Saint Mary’s, but couldn’t come all the way back. ORU falls to the Gaels 78-70. Max Abmas had 14 points on 4-11 shooting.
