Preseason polls in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference have been released, as basketball for Oklahoma Wesleyan starts up in just five days for the women, and just under two weeks for the men.

On the women's side, the Lady Eagles are projected to finish 10th in the coaches poll and ninth in the media poll.

A season ago, OKWU finished ninth in the KCAC with a 10-12 conference record. They were 13-15 overall. The Lady Eagles missed out on the KCAC tournament by just two games.

Head coach Heidi Messer talked about knocking on the door to the postseason.

The Lady Eagles open their season on Oct. 25 on the road against Oklahoma City University.

On the men's side, following their run to the national championship game a season ago, the OKWU men are projected to finish at the top of the conference in both the coaches and media preseason polls.

Last season, the Eagles finished 19-3 in conference play and won the regular season KCAC title. The Eagles finished last season with a 28-8 record, and their first appearance in the national championship game since 2009.

Head coach Donnie Bostwick talked about how competitive the conference has gotten.

The Eagles open their season on Oct. 31 at Skiatook High School for The Tulsa Challenge against Georgia Gwinett College at 7:30 p.m.
