Panthers Overcome Injuries to Beat Copan

The Barnsdall Panthers were involved in what was possibly the longest and highest scoring game across the state this past weekend, as the Panthers defeated Copan, 74-46. In a game that lasted nearly four hours, Barnsdall Coach Kylee Sweeney said it was the longest game he had been a part of. The heat didn't make things easy on his players, as both quarterbacks left the game due to cramping issues and other injuries left the team short-handed as the game progressed. Sweeney said he was glad to see his team fight through that adversity and get the win.

Of those nearly 700 yards rushing, Easton Malone carried the rock 25 times and finished with 301 yards rushing and four touchdowns. With the injuries, Malone had to step up and take a few snaps under center. Sweeney talks about who stepped up when roles had to be switched around.

Sweeney expects the Panthers to be near 100 percent when they take on Foyil this Friday in their home-opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
