Patriot Athlete of the Week: Emry Brown

It is Monday, which means it’s time for another Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week powered by Tri County Tech.

Today we look to one of the most accomplished athletes in our area this fall, in Bartlesville High volleyball senior Emry Brown.

Brown was the key cog in a 30-win Bruin volleyball season this year. BHS just had its season come to an end against Westmoore in five sets in Bartlesville’s own Regional finals at Bruin Field House on Tuesday of last week.

Brown is a longtime volleyball player. She explains why she loves the sport.

The 2024 season signified a step forward for Bartlesville volleyball.

Despite having consistent 20-win seasons over the past four years, this was the first year BHS had hosted a Regional in nearly 15 years. The improvement of the program started with former Bruins in Mia Otten and Kelsey Ward; both were two of the best in the state as seniors in 2022 and 2023.

Brown says those former Bruins, among others, helped her become the player she is today.

Brown has parlayed her success to a college volleyball commitment to Kansas City. She will be a Kangaroo playing NCAA Division I volleyball next year.

She gives a lot of credit to her family’s support for her success.

Brown finishes her Lady Bruin career with more than 1,000 kills, she had nearly 500 of those as a senior, leading BHS.

Head coach Andrew Blain says that Brown’s role as a do-everything player is one of her most impressive traits.

Congrats to BHS volleyball standout Emry Brown, our Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, powered by Tri County Tech.
