Patriot Athlete of the Week: Kelsie Yales

It is another Monday, which means we have another Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, and it’s a pertinent one for this week.

This week, we feature Bartlesville High softball standout Kelsie Yales. Yales has been a fixture in the circle for one of the best runs in BHS softball history. Bartlesville just punched its ticket to its fourth straight 6A softball tournament last week with a home Regional championship.

Yales talks about her softball journey.

Yales was the main pitcher on a Bartlesville team that won a road Regional last year en route to a State berth. BHS fell to Owasso in the first round.

This season, Bartlesville swept through Enid twice to win its own Regional.

Yales says she knows she always has everyone’s eyes on her as a starting pitcher.

Yales has committed to Tennessee Chattanooga to continue her softball career. She said she loved the relationship with her coaches and the area after going on a visit.

However, with her heading to college so far away next year, she wants to spend as much time as she can with her family in the meantime.

Yales will likely get the ball in the circle on Thursday when BHS kicks off its 6A Softball State Tournament in Oklahoma City at Devon Park.
