Pawhuska Boys Eliminated - Girls Also Fall

The Pawhuska boys are out, while the girls have no more losses to give after the first day of Regional action in high school basketball playoffs on Thursday.

The Pawhuska Huskies saw their season came to an end in a 67-59 loss to Okemah.

Pawhuska led it 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but it was a 19-5 offensive onslaught in the second quarter that put Okemah up 11 at halftime and made all the difference.

Pawhuska didn't roll over.

PHS cut it to one with less than a minute to go in the third quarter on this bucket.

Huskies would go up by one on a shot at the buzzer a minute later, but that was the final lead Pawhuska had. Okemah opened the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run and the Panthers were 7-8 from the foul line in the final 90 seconds to get the win.

Pawhuska senior Trenton Miles finished in double figures. The Huskies end the year with a 12-12 record.

Meanwhile in girl's action, it was Okemah coming out on top as well, winning 53-42.

In the second half, the Lady Huskies fought to get the lead down to six on one occasion, but a quick offensive spurt from Okemah put that Pawhuska push to rest. Fallon Bowman finished in double figures for Pawhuska.

With the loss, the Lady Huskies will need to win both on Friday and Saturday if they want to make it to area next week.

First game is a 1:00 PM tipoff against Stroud from Stroud High School Friday afternoon. That game can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and audio coverage will be available on KPGMTV.com.
