Had one postponement of a high school basketball game on Monday evening, as Wesleyan Christian School and Barnsdall ended up not playing their area battle to begin the year.

There are a handful more games across Northeast Oklahoma on Tuesday, as the hoops season starts to ramp up.

Copan will host South Coffeyville in a Class B contest from northern Washington County. The Hornet guys are a hard-fought 1-1 so far this season. Both of Copan’s games have come down to the wire. The Hornets own an overtime win over Shidler, then a two-point loss at Foyil.

First year head coach Kolten Stacy says his club had to come back in both of those games.

Just like Copan football, the Hornet guys are composed mostly of talented underclassmen. Stacy says there are benefits to playing so many close games early in their career.

Other games today, Oklahoma Union plays its season opener at home against Chelsea. Cougar guys breaking in a familiar name at head coach, as Brad Hall takes over for Lee Ott starting on Tuesday.

Also Barnsdall right back after it at home against Caney Valley. And Verdigris goes to Oologah.
